What a crazy day

It's not October 11th yet, the day Arrival was released 30 years ago, but since this is the ultimate ABBA record to me, a little tribute to this legendary album.
No more silly outfits for ABBA, from now on they are stylish! (....)

Classic record sleeve

Classic song about an ageless theme: money

Did they ever look better? At least Frida and Agnetha were glowing and sexy as ever.

Who thought of that pole anyway? "Now girls hold that pole and look sultry."

Flyin’ high, high

From Dutch Mad magazine 1978.
ABBA The Movie parody.
-This is a once in a lifetime opportunity! At last! What I always wanted!
- Interview us?
- No! In an elevator to the 112th floor!

They just stare at me and wonder why

Jaha, jaså!
Benny being sporty.

Agnetha knows something the audience doesn't know.

Find out what Frida has done to her ABBA necklace...

Oh Christ! I bet Frida's now wants me to fix that bookshelf.

But tell me does she kiss...

In 1979 German magazine Bravo introduced the Kisso-gram.
Agnetha and Frida planted their lips on a piece of paper too, so the fans could always have their kisses of fire whenever they wanted! ( yes that's a pun )

and I ain’t gonna take it no more

It's leftovers day.
Some pictures with eiter bad quality or weird looking ABBA members.
Interview with Dutch mag Muziekexpres in 1980. Apparently during this interview Agnetha and Frida walked out of the room after a quarrel with Björn and Benny.
It seemed that B&B were annoyed by A&A chatting together in Swedish all of the time. A&A in their turn were irritated by the fact that the journalist directed most of his questions to B&B.
Yeah, what do you know...

John Denver trying to have a decent conversation with some dolls from Madame Tusseaud's.

Having a jolly good time in Paris 1980

Hands......and ABBA

This time The Bee Gees try to make contact with those familiar looking wax dolls.

Sometimes he wished he had a wife.

Hey, look what I found!

One look and you’re hypnotized

Let's hear it for the girls.

My last post touched a nerve, as I suspected.
Thanks for the support, and boo to the @#$%^& who didn't even dare to post a comment!
By the way this is my 100th post.

...and still you never reach ’em

I have to get this off my chest!
It's about that neverending A. versus A. thing that is going on between fans. I should say *some* fans, because the majority are decent fans.
Have you ever visited YouTube? I bet you have. A wealth of ABBA and Agnetha and Frida videos. Some of them never seen before.
But have you ever read the comments? Yeah, mostly things like "thanks for uploading this video" or "I love this song" but there seem to be some @#$%^& who call them self ABBA fans who consitently critisize, no, belittle Frida.
They are avid Agnetha fans, which is OK of course, but instead of praising Agnetha they ridicule Frida. According to these @#$%^& Frida has always loked like a grandmother, a clown, cheap, old whereas Agnetha is of course fresh as morning dew and angellike. Oh and sexy.
Also they keep on telling that Agnetha was the iconic one and always more popular. I'd say: is this a popularity contest? What are you trying to prove?
And who are you to insult Frida?

Why is it always Agnetha fans who show this stupid and childish behaviour? I would almost say Agnetha attracts some bonafide freaks! What a bunch of pathetic f***wits! Excusez le mot.

Love Agnetha, respect Frida / Love Frida, respect Agnetha/ Love Agnetha and love Frida

Amen

Thank you for reading this.

I’d heard about you before

Frida or Anni-Frid Synni Lyngstad, born November 15 1945 in Narvik, Norway, is best known as the second A in ABBA. Made her debut at 13 and after that recorded three LPs : "Anni-Frid Lyngstad", "Frida" and "Frida ensam".

The second A in ABBA?

Han verkar kanske trött ibland

Some interesting photographs. Or not so interesting, whatever.
Hey, gold! That sounds like a really catchy name for a compilation...

Frida and her fun boyfriend. Bertil Whatshisname.

I love hearing the stories that they tell

Still haven't seen this masterpiece of cinematography? You don't know what you are missing.
Yes I'm talking about ABBA the Movie.
OK the story is nothing to write home about, but the music, the show and the ABBA members are totally great.
Go get it. It's out on DVD!

...aaand...CUT! That was really good Frida. Now without the french kissing please.

You know what: I like the icecream time!

OMG, stop it I'm peeing my pants!

This is so cool, whatever I say, they start laughing.

Everyday I hear a lot of tired, shuffling feet.

I found these two pretty rare photos on the internet. I guess they were made during the 1979 tour.
My mommy may be a big popstar, I'd better stay close to her just in case.

Frida's shoes weren't so comfortable after all.

I may be an angel in disguise

Hey you!
don't mess with ABBA, they are...

a class act (with a twist)....

and they do karate.

To stand in the lights

Oh yes, that November night!

As I already said, it's so long ago, it's hard to remember anything. Besides my memories are all coloured by pictures in magazines and the ABBA in Concert special.
However, the fact that my friends and I were sitting "Frida/Benny" side, I will never forget. :-D
I also remember hearing that synthesizer intro to Voulez-Vous (Gammal Fäbodpsalm) and thinking: this is it! It's about to begin! Then the curtains opened and Agnetha and Frida stood there like two V's and all of a sudden Voulez Vous started. Awesome. We screamed and yelled, sang along. It was ABBA. The real ABBA, our heroes! In the flesh! AAAAAAHHH!!!

Some silly things I recall: ( and excuse me for remembering only Frida moments)
Frida and Björn singing Why did it have to be me. It was really funny and Frida was sooo sexy! She even did some kind of striptease. Don't worry, she only took off her t-shirt.
She also flirted heavily with Cleas af Geyerstam once, off stage, he was the sound engineer and from where we were sitting we could see him and the mixing desk. Anyway, as 14 year old girl I thought it was quite kinky and it made a big impression.
Another weird Frida thing I remember is when she bent over and put her hand in her tricot to make sure her breasts were in the right place! Obviously she didn't do this centre stage. Recognizable for us girls I should say.

To hear the fans scream

Yes it is true. I've seen the REAL ABBA in concert. That means I'm that old, thank you.
How long ago is it? Almost 26 years. Wow! A life time ago.
I can't remember that much, actually. I was there with my friends Lindy and Liesbeth ( who is still my best friend up to date) and since Rotterdam was sold out, Liesbeth's parents very so very kind to drive us to Brussels.
We were keen Frida fans already so we were very happy to be seated on the Frida/Benny side of the stage. OK it was way up about two mile from the stage but with my binocular I could see everything very clear! We even could see them walking when they went backstage to change for example. Once we shouted Frida Frida when she went "past" us and she waved and blew us a kiss. We almost fainted!

More memories next time...

Page from my agenda October 3rd 1979. I wasn't that much interested in my homework on Friday.

All these ice hockey/football/soccer shirts Frida was wearing during Why did it have to be me come in handy when it comes to locate the concerts. This for example was in Stockholm...

This one in Dortmund....

I'm not 100% sure but wasn't this Brussles? Anyone?

Definitely Rotterdam!

The t-shirt parade is to be continued.

From the day when I first listened to you...

Benni-Frid, the Benster and the Fridster, Benno and Friddo, the Beauty and the bear. Ladies and gentlemen, the ABBA scrapbook presents:
Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Benny Andersson!
Frida looking over Benny's shoulder when he plays the piano. What else can you do when he's always playing and you wish you were dum dum diddle his darling fiddle?

Anyone for a romantic Benny/Frida pic?

Switzerland. Man that was so funny!

Remember when Benny took the wrong car keys?
